Triund Trek and Camping
My name is Rohan, and I am 25 years old. I work in an IT company in Delhi, and most of my days are spent in front of a laptop. My girlfriend, Ananya, is also 25 and works as a content writer. We both love the idea of travel, but honestly, we had never done a real trek before.
One evening, while sitting in a café, Ananya showed me pictures of Triund on her phone. Green mountains, snow-covered peaks, and tents under the stars looked unreal. She smiled and said, “Let’s do this. Just once.”
That moment, we decided to go on our first-ever trek together — the Triund Trek, and also camp there overnight.
Planning Our First Trek
We were beginners, so planning was very important for us. We searched online and found that Triund is perfect for first-time trekkers. It is not too difficult and offers beautiful views.
We packed light but smart:
- Warm jackets and caps
- Trekking shoes
- Water bottles and snacks
- Power bank and torch
- A lot of excitement and a little fear
Inside my mind, I kept thinking, “What if I can’t complete the trek?” Ananya felt the same, but we encouraged each other.
After a long bus journey, we finally reached McLeod Ganj. The fresh mountain air instantly made us feel relaxed. The city noise felt far away.
Starting the Triund Trek
We started our trek early in the morning from Dharamkot. The trail was surrounded by tall trees and silence, broken only by bird sounds. Sunlight slowly came through the forest, making everything look golden.
At first, I walked fast, trying to look confident. After 20 minutes, I was already breathing heavily. Ananya laughed and said, “This is not a race.” We slowed down and walked together.
The path was sometimes easy and sometimes steep. We stopped often, drank water, and enjoyed the view. Small tea shops on the way felt like blessings. A cup of hot tea in the mountains tastes different — better and warmer.
Feeling Tired but Not Giving Up
After crossing the steep section near Magic View Café, my legs started hurting. This was the toughest part for me. I wanted to sit and not move.
Ananya held my hand and said, “We came together, we will reach together.” That one sentence gave me strength. I realized trekking is not just about physical power; it is also about mental strength and support.
Slowly, step by step, we moved ahead.
Reaching Triund Top
After almost 5 hours, we finally reached Triund Top. The moment I saw the wide green meadow and snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains, I forgot all the pain.
Clouds were moving below us, and the wind was cold but fresh. I felt proud. This was the first time I had achieved something like this with my own effort.
We hugged, smiled, and sat silently, just looking at the mountains. No phone, no work, no noise — only nature.
Camping at Triund
We decided to camp at Triund. We rented a tent at the top. As evening came, the temperature dropped quickly. We wore our jackets and sat outside the tent with a cup of tea.
As night arrived, the sky changed completely. I had never seen so many stars in my life. The sky looked full, bright, and endless. We lay down on the grass, counting stars and talking about life.
For the first time, I felt truly present.
Night at the Campsite
At night, the cold became stronger. The sound of wind and distant silence felt strange but peaceful. Inside the tent, it was cozy. We shared stories, laughed, and talked about our dreams.
There was no mobile network, and surprisingly, we did not miss it. The mountains taught me how beautiful life can be without constant notifications.
I slept peacefully, tired but happy.
Sunrise at Triund
Early in the morning, Ananya woke me up and said, “Get up, the sun is coming.”
I walked outside the tent, and what I saw made me emotional.
The sunrise over the Himalayas was magical. The mountains slowly turned golden, and the cold air felt fresh and pure. I stood there silently, feeling grateful.
That moment made all the effort worth it.
Trekking Back Down
After breakfast, we packed our bags and started trekking down. Going down was easier but still required focus. On the way, we talked about how this trek changed us.
I realized I was stronger than I thought. Ananya realized she loved adventure more than she expected.
What This Trek Taught Me
My first Triund trek and camping experience taught me many things:
- You don’t need to be an expert to start
- Nature heals your mind
- Doing hard things together makes relationships stronger
- Simple moments create the best memories
Final Thoughts
The Triund Trek and Camping was not just a trip; it was an experience that changed me. It showed me a world beyond routine life. Trekking for the first time with my girlfriend made it even more special.
If you are young, confused, tired, or just looking for peace — go to Triund. Walk slowly, breathe deeply, and let the mountains teach you something new.
This was my first trek, and it will always stay close to my heart.
